Went away for the long weekend. Was my first real holiday in years. It was better than I'd expected. Once I got over the disappointment that most of my friends who were expected to turn up, didn't, I did have a good time. Was good clean unadulterated fun. Don't have the snaps yet. But some moments really stick in my mind clearer than any snap.
Sitting down for breakfast at a table looking out at the sea, reading "Bridges of Madison County", sipping on a huge mug of tea. The sky a deep shade of grey, overcast would be an understatement. But somehow not looking like it'll rain. And it didn't. Not that morning.
Riding a bike to Old goa on a road right through the backwaters. For the first time, I found myself agreeing with biking purists - the wind in my face felt good. I wasn't speeding (very unusual for me), but found this was fun as well, and it allowed me to look around :-)
Sitting at Britto's sipping on a drink along with friends and stepping out every now and then to light up. Looking at the rain outside and deciding that we'll just sit there and wait it out. What better way to spend time waiting for the rain to let up ;-)
Lying on my back on the beach on the last day there just wondering if this couldn't be made to last any longer. Did I really need to go back to work!
I was about this close to quitting work and opening a cafe/book store and settling down there. Or at least quitting work and staying on till as long as my money lasted. But as I was already deeply in debt, I had to come back. Hmm... the advantage of being perennialy broke :-) prevents you from doing really insane things.
Vowed that I'll do it again every 3-day weekend that I get. Cover a different area each time. And buy a cottage when I'm ready to settle down.
The nightmarish bus trip back wasn't enough to shake this resolution. Considering how bad it was, I think if I do it again, I ought to either save up enough to fly or drive down. The bus is only if I'm absolutely totally broke like now.

Hi Cyn. Hope that you had a wonderfully contented time as well. Do tell us abt it :-)
Hey. Think the train is cheaper than the bus... and a sight more comfortable!
