The time of my life

Over 5 hours: 4 cocktails, 17 cigarettes, nearly 4 hrs of PVD playing live and an hour of DJ Ivan all went into the Best Time I've Ever Had!!!

I'd never ever seen PVD live, but I'd heard a lot about the way he connects to the crowd and keeps the tempo going higher and higher like you can't believe. Well, any sceptics out there better go catch him at his next gig. Ivan started off with some house and then started getting into fairly good trance. By the time PVD came on, I was already pretty high and had been dancing for nearly an hour. 5 mins into his set and he had taken the tempo to a totally different level. Ivan was cool, but the way PVD started off his set made me wonder where this was headed. How could it get better and harder than this? He takes it higher than you would have ever believed possible. An hour into it I was drenched in sweat and ready to pass out because of dehydration. But couldn't bear to leave the floor while the beat was so full on. The sweet smell of marijuana was all over the room. Can't help but wonder who would ever do grass at a trance party!!! Apparently, the answer - at least, in b'bay - seems to be - almost everybody.

Finally went out, grabbed a bottle of water, another drink and then dived straight back in. Was supposed to shut down at 0130, but the party just went on. And on. And on. He waved Good Bye at around 0200 and the crowd just went crazy screaming for more. Nice guy that he is, he promptly obliged with another 20 mins of really hard trance. By then people's energy levels were dropping and think he sensed that when he shut down. But guess both he and I underestimated the crowd. People just kept chanting "PVD! PVD!" over and over again till he started his laptop again and started playing for one final time that night. He chose some old faves this time - lots from his Politics of Dancing 1 and Vorsprung Dyk Technik. Mostly vocal trance. And think that is exactly what we needed at that time with being totally dehydrated and physically drained.

Heard later that last time he'd been here he played till 0700 - like at a typical trance/rave party. Unfortunately the police turned up around 0300 and shut things down.

Had never gone clubbing in b'bay bcoz I didn't want to listen to Bollywood - which I've heard is played everywhere except at Polyesther. But the crowd that night convinced me that it is sure worth giving a try. All sorts of people from the rave crowd to the page 3 clubbers. That night is sure gonna be a tough act to follow up. Lets see what next weekend brings in KL.
