That is all that's been left each time that I've fallen in love. A friend of mine once told me "You know that you always invariably pick the one girl who is unavailable-the one who'd never be interested in you, the one who is already seeing someone, the one who's just been heartbroken...". Had to agree. Have fallen in love thrice over the last 12 years or so. And each time, the feeling was not (for lack of a better word) mutual. It has always been "Oh-but-I-always-thought-of-you-as-a-good-friend-and-I-can't-see-you-any-other-way". But I guess I can't complain except for one thing - 2 of them are not even friends now - their choice, not mine! I'd have thought that once you got the whole romance thing out of the way, you could be even better friends than earlier where you may have wondered at times whether the other person has feelings rather more than mere affection.
From all three of them, I have some good memories and picked up a few more artists to add to the list that I liked. Maybe that is why I listen to Suzanne Vega, The Bangles, Suzanna Hoffs, The Carpenters, Belinda Carlisle, and can you believe - Metallica! Doesn't quite fit with the rest of my taste. But once I started listening, I found that I liked them. Maybe part of it is that it brings back memories... but think it is not just that. Because I've hardly listened to music with one of them, but I've still picked up a liking for a couple of artists from her - or rather, I rediscovered a couple of them which I hadn't listened to in years. Like Flea of RHCP, I too believe that if you want to explore music, then the best way is to let other people whose tastes overlap yours be your guide.
Hmm... wonder if that's part of the reason why I fell in love with each of them? The overlapping taste in music. Can't really find another common thread. Yeah - music is extremely important to me.
To good memories and good music - things that you keep even after heartbreak ;-) Even if you throw out all the cards and the letters and the gifts!

Ashley: Yeah, man! Me too ;-) Or at leat, lets hope that I at least get some more new music ;-)
M: Just saw that ur blog is also "random thoughts"! Well, if that isn't a coincidence!
hee hee, a new reason to fall in love!! catch up on lost tracks :P
nicely written dude! So how you been?
Hello Uberbhai! Sabkuch fit, kya? Fultoos post re. Tum kya likhta hai bhai.
Ok, I'll stop. Noone lets me touch Hindi :(
Totally understand what youre saying Uber. Every almost-love has a song or a band that becomes anchored to it so firmly you cant recall one without remembering the other. Memories, yeah.
Though I didnt think someone like you would be the unlucky-in-love types.
Luck. Fate. God. Excuses.
Death: Getting over it, man! The strongest love will just shrivel and die if it isn't reciprocated. Affection will remain though :-) for quite some more time - maybe forever. I still like all three of them, but not in love with any of them. Not anymore.
SoXy: My hindi is worse ;-) And whaddya mean by "didn't think someone like you would be unlucky in love"? I'll take that as a compliment anyway :-)
"If music be the food of love..."
Nice post. And you can't see me, but I'm nodding vigorously because I agree with you completely.
a-hem: Nice 2 c u in here! And thx! Glad to know that other people feel the same way. I was wondering if I was the only one built this way ;-)
