"I can't wait for the weekend to begin". Oh great! I thought to myself. What a song they'd picked to play on a monday morning. And I wasn't in a great mood anyway watching frail old women lift weights that I was struggling and grunting with. But yeah - it did feel great to be working out again. The sight of toned bodies all around did inspire me a bit. And I'd be lying if I didn't add that it also depressed me slightly - reminding me that I had gone from being one of them to joining the ranks of the pudgy and ungainly.
Good music at a gym is absolutely essential. But make that great music and you have a problem on your hands. I wanted to just get off that treadmill and start dancing to it ;-) Thank god these guys play trance all the time instead of lousy punjabi/bollywood/indi pop that you hear everywhere in b'bay from autos to pubs to cellphone ringtones.
Have you noticed that the minute you hate a song, you'll hear it everywhere! Well, an iPod is a good investment to shut out music/noise that you don't want. But it is also something that can gobble up all your precious silences - the same way a TV gobbles up idle time. Value both too much to buy either ;-)
